#40 - End of the summer

Sun Aug 23, 2009, 4:44 PM
I'm noticing I pretty much never update my journal, but I feel like the only things worth mentioning on here are about my art, and I don't really every have anything to say about my art in general.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to spend my creative energy on. I have several long term projects I've been working on for a few years now, and I feel like enough is enough; I should simply finish them and be done. I finished my afghan (which I don't label as an art project, though it took up free time none the less) and have gotten pretty far with both of my quilt, though I know I'm nowhere close to finishing one of them. The other only needs to be stitched to the backing. This is what I've been spending most of my energy on this summer and therefore haven't been uploading anything new.

On the other hand, I haven't had the time to do any of my regular art. This doesn't apply only to summer, but the last full year. Being in AP art forced me to concentrate on making pieces for the class and hardly any just for the heck of it. I'm really glad I was in the class. It was fun being able to get credit for doing art, but it also taught me that graphic art is not a career I should look into. This is my passion and I don't want people telling me what to do with it. I love being able to create what I want when I want.

Sorry about the rant. Basically, I really need to find a balance between long and short projects.

He's cool, except he's letting some student teacher guy take over so he can learn to teach. Sad news is, the guy's older than Mr. Clark.
